Helen Householder Fenchel

Helen Louise Householder Fenchel died peacefully at Savannah Specialty Care on June 25, 2008.

She was born March 17, 1924 to Burton and Clara Householder. Helen spent her
childhood and younger years growing up in Florida and Georgia. A passion for dance prompted her to move to New York for a number of years. Upon her return to Savannah, Helen and her sister, Nedra opened a dance studio in the old Desoto Hotel. In later years, Helen and her husband Louis, ran a successful saddlery in Louisville, Kentucky. It was during this time Helen developed and patented a dye for leather that was used extensively. Helen and her husband retired, traveled, and eventually settled in Savannah. She spent the twilight years of her life under the gracious care of Savannah Specialty Care Center.

Helen was preceded in death her loving parents, Burton and Clara Householder, her husband of many years, Louis Fenchel, her two sisters, Beatrice Householder and Nedra Householder Poppell.

Helen is survived her niece, Connie Brown-Rudd, two great nieces, Cara Brown Rupard and Cristin Brown Nguyen.

Helen will be laid to rest in a private ceremony in the Greenwich section of Bonaventure Cemetery next to her husband.
